When renovating this Tingley home, the kitchen needed to become the heart of a large open-plan fimily space, bringing together cooking, dining, entertaining and everyday living. Our kitchen design team created a two-tone Sheraton shaker kitchen centred around a generous curved kitchen island, combing traditional cabintery with a layout designed for modern family life.

Anthracite base cabinetry gives the kitchen depth and definition, while crisp white wall and tall units keep the space feeling light and open. The result is a characterful shaker kitchen that feels considered, contemporary and completelly at home within the newly renovated space.

Kitchen Design Brief

The brief called for a large family kitchen designed around everyday life, with plenty of space for cooking and entertaining while connecting naturally with the open plan dining area.

The two-tone treatment helps define the working areas without making the room feel heavy. A curved bullnose end panel on the main run softens what would otherwise be a hard corner and helps the cabinetry flow more naturally into the open-plan room.

Designing a two-tone shaker kitchen

The curved kitchen kitchen island is the focal point of the room, bringing together anthracite shaker cabinetry, pale Sulestone Lagoon worktop and a solid oak breakfast bar.

Behind the island, a full wall of white shaker cabinetry houses two Neff Slide and Hide Pyro Ovens and a built in microwave. Using the same shaker profile and ribbed chrome hardware throughout gives the lighter cabinetry a strong visual connection to the anthracite elements.

Sheraton Shaker Kitchen

Sheraton's timber shaker cabinetry can be painted to order, allowing the same door style to be used in contrasting finishes throughout the room.

The shaker style itself is defined by its simple framed door and clean proportions, giving it a timeless quality that works equally well in traditional homes and more contemporary open-plan spaces.

Neff Gas Hob

The cooking area features a 75cm five-burner Neff gas hob, two Slide and Hide Pyro Ovens, a built-in microwave and a warming drawer, providing plenty of capacity for everyday family cooking and entertaining.

Silestone Worksurfaces

The main run and peninsula are finished in Silestone Lagoon by Cosentino. Its pale surface creates a clean contrast against the anthracite cabinetry while providing a durable, easy-to-maintain worktop for a busy family kitchen.
